“To give knowledge of salvation to his people in the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, whereby the sunrise shall visit us from on high to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace” – Because God is merciful, he sent his messenger John the Baptist to prepare the way of the Lord; because God is gracious, he sent His best message, Jesus Christ. Therefore, if a person remains in darkness, it is because of one of two reasons: (1) they haven’t heard the messenger; or (2) they chose to reject the message.
